Description
STONE CIRCLE. DRUMBEG. COUNTY CORK.
THE HERITAGE OF IRELAND. CALENDAR ART. 1987.
Also known as ‘The Druid’s Altar’, the ancient stone circle in Drumbeg is one of the most visited megalithic sites in Ireland. When excavated in 1957 the cremated remains of a young adolescent were found in an urn along with about 80 other mostly burnt votive offerings, all dating from about one thousand BC. Best not to think what that was about.
